About Fair Trade, Certified Organic Teas
All our teas are Certified Organic as well as fair trade. As part of a third-party regulatory requirement, all Certified Organic producers agree to adhere to standards that create only the highest quality tea. Any processing of the tea is done under chemical free conditions, and growers are routinely tested for pesticide contamination as part of the accreditation process. The certification process is an assurance that the grower is doing everything they can to reduce the chance of pesticide or chemical contamination.
Fair Trade is a social movement that advocates a fair price as well as social and environmental standards in areas that harvesting and production takes place. It is a market-based approach that aims to assist producers in obtaining a sustainable and self-sufficient participation in the trading of their products and services and contribute to global international equity in trade.

Tea brewing is all about personal taste so there are no fixed rules to brewing a good cuppa! However, there are a few tips to help you get the most out of your tea. Remember, when using good quality Unity loose leaf, one teaspoon per cup is the perfect recipe.
Tips for that perfect cup...
- Brew your tea with boiling, fresh water.
- As a rule of thumb the higher quality the green tea the less heated the water should be. As low as 50 degrees Celsius is acceptable for more delicate greens.
- Do not brew your tea for too long. This is often the cause of a bitter aftertaste. Between 1 and 4 minutes is a guideline for black tea and most greens. With herbal/fruit and Rooibos tea you can steep them as long as you wish.
- Fresh cold milk is acceptable in most black teas, especially strong Sri Lankan/Indian type teas (makes a beautiful golden cup). Be discerning, as milk can cover the delicate flavour of some teas.
- Do not add milk to herbal or green teas.
- If you desire sweeter tea, honey is a fine choice.
